Lions Clubs in Europe

At gatherings of Lions we often hear of our 46,000 clubs and 1.4 million members.  Where does District 133 Ireland fit into all this?

Lions Clubs globally exist in 7 Constitutional Areas and European Lions Clubs are in the 4th of these, made up of 17 Multiple Districts and 14 Single Districts, totalling 140 + Districts, comprising in total approximately 9,000 Lions Clubs and about 250,000 members.

Germany is the largest MD with approx 1,400 Clubs, followed by Italy 1,325, France 1,200, Finland 900, Great Britain 750 and Holland, Sweden and Norway at about 430 clubs in each.

The average number of Clubs in single districts is 48, so Ireland with 108 Clubs is by far the largest Single District in Europe. Romania with 66 clubs is next. The smallest districts are Russia (21) and Luxemburg (24).

The average number of members per district is just short of 1,800 – District Ireland is close to 2,400.

The average number of members per club is 27 – in Ireland that figure is nearer to 22.
